Lawn Maintenance For Your Glen Laurel Home

Fall is right around the corner and many of those who live in Glen Laurel are looking to enjoy the cooler weather. The heat of summer will be subsiding soon and it will be time to focus on fall maintenance of your yard. The Town of Clayton is asking that residents of Glen Laurel no longer leave loose leaves along the curbs. The Town of Clayton will no longer be picking those up; you will now have to bag all grass clippings, pine straw, leaves, and trimmings.

When fall arrives, your Glen Laurel yard is preparing to go dormant for the winter. Fertilizing your yard is important during this time to provide it with an extra boost of nutrients that it will store and use during its dormancy. The grass may not be growing during the winter but the roots continue to grow underground throughout the winter and will rely on stored nutrients.

Fall is also the perfect time to aerate your yard. Aerating your lawn helps combat grass compaction that might have occurred during summer traffic, and allow your yard to increase the amount of nutrients and oxygen it takes in.

When the leaves start to fall, be sure to rake or blow the lawn at least once a week. Keeping your yard free of leaves not only keeps your yard looking better it is also healthier for your yard to be free of leaves. Don’t forget to bag the leaves and no longer leave them curbside.

Buying A New Home In Glen Laurel Versus An Existing Home

If you are considering buying a home you may be contemplating if buying an existing home or purchasing a newly constructed home is the way to go. No matter if you are looking for a new home or an existing home, however, the community of Glen Laurel has something to offer everyone.  When choosing to buy a new home there are things that need to be taken into consideration including cost, convenience and the extras that a community has to offer.  Below are both pros and cons to an existing home and a newly constructed home in Glen Laurel.

An existing home will save you money in terms that many times you will not have to purchase appliances and window treatments. Landscaping is usually already completed and trees are more mature.  If the home has recently been renovated it may include many high end fixtures that may not be customary in new constructed homes.

The cons to buying an existing home are that they may be less energy efficient, which will be more costly to cool and heat. Also, repairs and renovations needed to the home may be quite costly.

The number one pro to a newly constructed home is that it is costs less to maintain than an older home.  The ability to make your home custom to your taste is another favorite of a new home. Choosing your own options and upgrade ensures that you have exactly what you want in your home.

The cons of a new home are that it can be costly to install landscaping. Dealing with dirt and mud of other homes in the neighborhood during construction, while the neighborhood is being built, can be tiresome as well. Also, resale of the home may be difficult before construction of the entire development is complete.
There are pros and cons of both buying an existing home and a newly constructed home.  Once you choose what is right for your family, you will find that Glen Laurel has what you are looking for.
